60 Miles – Better Than It Felt

60 MIles – Better Than It Felt

60 miles on the Capital Trail today.

Kind of a strange ride.

The wind kept shifting—sometimes helping, sometimes working against me.
Nothing ever really settled in.

Around mile 35, my legs didn’t feel great.

Not terrible—but not strong either.

But everything else held.

Heart rate stayed steady.
Breathing was controlled.
Overall, I felt… decent.

What stood out most came at the end.

Even with tired legs, my last two 5-mile splits were among my fastest of the day.

Same exact time.
Only four seconds off my best split.

And in those final miles, I was able to push.

That’s what stuck with me.

It didn’t feel like a great ride.

But the numbers said otherwise.

Funny how this all started.

I was probably 12 or 13 riding with my buddy JC when his cousin and a friend tried to chase us down the boulevard in Vineland. Just for fun.

They never caught me.

Small moment at the time—but it stuck.

Today wasn’t perfect.

But it was better than it felt.
